The moment the “CM Thalapathy” title card appears, the theatre erupts🔥🔥🔥Vijay’s entry is pure goosebumps, and the “Kacheri” song is a heartfelt tribute to his fans🫶🏻Watching him dance on the big screen one last time is an emotional experience that every fan will cherish🫶🏻❤️
The first half is complete scene to scene similar to Bhagavanth Kesari. Except for the villain portions, many scenes follow the same template. Bobby Deol’s character is surprisingly weak and over-the-top👎, while the emotional bond between Vijay and Mamitha Baiju never feels convincing👎Thankfully, the interval block is a complete banger. Vijay’s commanding screen presence, backed by Anirudh’s electrifying “Ravana Mavanda” score, delivers the biggest high of the film🔥🔥
The second half opens with an energetic action sequence followed by “Oru Pere Varalaaru,” a pure fan celebration that will set theatres on fire🔥🔥. But once that stretch is over, the film gradually loses momentum. The emotional scenes, which were the biggest strength of Bhagavanth Kesari, fail to create the same impact here👎The final thirty minutes drag, and the climax is a major letdown with poor VFX and weak execution👎👎
The film’s biggest strengths are Thalapathy Vijay❤️ and Anirudh Ravichander❤️Vijay’s screen presence carries the film throughout, while Anirudh’s background score elevates even the ordinary moments🔥🔥. Director H. Vinoth, however, disappoints as a writer👎. The changes he made to the original story don’t work, the villain track feels outdated, and the emotions never truly connect👎.
Overall, this is one of the weaker films in Vijay’s last decade👎But if you’re a Thalapathy fan, it’s worth watching just to witness him light up the big screen one final time👍
