After watching the trailer and promotional material, I went into Jailer 2 with very low expectations. But Nelson genuinely surprised me with a terrific first half🔥🔥
Right from the title card, the film is an absolute treat for Rajini fans. The title card, Rajini sir’s entry, bridge sequence, tea stall scene, and interval block are pure goosebumps moments🔥🔥. Rajini sir’s unmatched aura, Anirudh’s electrifying BGM, and Nelson’s stylish taking work brilliantly together🔥🔥. Surprisingly, the comedy also lands really well. The entire first half is thoroughly entertaining and has solid repeat value🔥🔥
After such a blockbuster first half, expectations naturally go sky-high. Unfortunately, Nelson fails to maintain the same momentum in the second half👎. SJ Suryah’s villain track feels outdated and boring👎. Though there are a few elevation scenes, none of them delivers the same high as the first half. Everything feels familiar and lacks freshness👎
Emotional episode came out well here👍
The pre-climax and climax, loaded with cameos, feel forced and repetitive, almost following the same template as Part 1. They are decent👍 enough to watch on the big screen but lack that much-needed wow factor👎
Rajini sir is terrific throughout, and Anirudh once again gives his best with a powerful background score🔥👌
Coming to Nelson, he deserves full credit for the first half. Despite having very little story, he makes it highly engaging with his screenplay and presentation🔥. But the same Nelson disappoints in the second half with dull writing, an outdated villain track, and a repetitive climax👎
Overall: A terrific, goosebumps-filled first half🔥 followed by a weak and boring second half👎, ending with a decent climax. What could have been a solid blockbuster ends up being just an average film.
Verdict: An Average Watch👍👎, Mainly for Rajini Sir’s Swag and the Terrific First Half!
